New York Fashion Week-goers might be the only street style group willing to brave the cold for a really good look. This past season, we saw a mixed bag of temperatures—snowfall and ultra chilly days in the latter half of the week; sunny, almost 60 degree temps at the start. The warmth was fleeting, but it allowed February’s fashion show attendees the rare opportunity to trade in traditional winter wear and debut some of Spring’s 2022 latest drops—even after the temperatures plummeted!
Pursuing all the street style snaps, we see long leather coats, trenches, and wrap coats in springy colors. In addition to lighter outerwear options, there were also plenty of exposed ankles, low-cut necklines, and mini skirts to boot. It’s safe to say no matter the forecast, New York Fashion Week street style stars are going to wear well, whatever they want.
A shoppable breakdown of 5 of our favorite looks, below.
All Out Khaki
What could feel more like spring than wearing the neutral beige color head to toe? Get the look with a pair of perfect pleated trousers, a classic spring trench, and top it off with a coordinated bucket hat to match—ideal for spring showers to come!
In the Trenches
When it comes to street style, you can’t deny the cool factor of a leathery trench. A trench coat is an ideal coat for those in-between spring days, while a leather version elevates the look. Though if you happen to break one out before winter’s over, we’d suggest layering up underneath.
An Ankle Debut
There’s no better way to leave winter in the past than ditching your socks altogether. And there’s no better way to say you’re ready for spring than by exposing a little skin.
Why wait for daffodils to bloom to mark the beginning of the new season when you could wear a coat in the color instead? Until the temperatures start to rise, might we suggest layering a set of knit grey separates underneath for extra warmth?
Dress Over Pants
Come spring, why not wear a flowing shirt dress over trousers? In this case, it doubles as outerwear; we like to dream of the days we can ditch the coat altogether.
